Mr. Willie L. Ewing, 87, of Sharon, SC, departed this life surrounded by his loving family at his home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. He was born August 13, 1937 in Wagram, North Carolina to the late Alda Ewing and George McNeal.
As a young man, he left his home in North Carolina and went to New York where he worked various jobs. There, he met the love of his life, Zula aka “Ann,” and they married and had two children.
Willie later went to truck driving school and earned his CDL license. Working for several different outfits, he worked very hard to save money to buy his own truck—an old one he bought off two hippies, but it was his own. That truck became his blessing because it gained the interest of the owner of a trucking company, Talay’s Trucking Company, and Willie was offered a job that he accepted and worked for over 30 years. He was a hard-working man and provider for his family, who rarely ever took off work.
Willie was always an outdoors man and loved to work outside—even in the hot summer heat. He was a stickler about keeping his lawn maintained and would get on his “Baby Boo” about doing it just so. He would work on his tools and on little projects often.
He was married for 62 years to the late Zula Wilkins Ewing.
Willie is survived by his daughter, Charlene Ewing of the home; son, Tyrone Ewing of Texas; three grandchildren: Charlena Purdie, Sedrique Ewing, and Channél Ewing; a sister-in-law, Barbara McDonald and brother-in-law, John McDonald.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, SC.
