Mr. William R. “Willie” Miller, 88, of York, SC went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his home. Born July 1, 1934 in York County, he was a son of the late Roseboro and Ophelia Steele Miller.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are a son, Ernest Lee Miller; a grandson; Marcus Miller; and a brother, Gilbert Miller.
Surviving to cherish fond memories are his wife, Juanita Williams Miller of the home; two sons, William D. Miller (Davida) and Curtis Miller both of Winston-Salem, NC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Miller (Maxine) of Washington, DC; three sisters, Lizzie Robinson of New Jersey, Martha Miller and Mary Miller both of York, SC; a stepson, Christopher Williams of the home; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Willie attended New Home AME Zion Church school and church from a young age. After school, he worked for 53 years as a truck driver for FCX (which later became Goldkist).
He was united in marriage to Juanita Williams on December 13, 2012, although their loving relationship lasted for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and watching westerns and the Dallas Cowboys. Willie loved to be outdoors and working in the garden as well.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at New Home AME Zion Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Miller may be viewed from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 24th at the funeral home.
