William Dezette Feemster, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on February 22, 2023 at the age of 96.

W.D., as he was affectionately known, was born on November 07, 1926 in Smyrna, S.C. in the York County area. He was a son of William Dezette Feemster, Sr. and Elizabeth Falls Feemster, and he was the last surviving child of this union.

He spent his childhood years with his immediate and extended family in the Smyrna area and he attended school in the Sharon, S.C. school system. He helped out on his family’s farm at an early age. He had an extremely strong work ethic and was never idle, joining the Celanese Textile Company in his early twenties. W.D. loved baseball and was a first baseman for an organized team in the area. He became a mason as a young adult and was a member of the Tryon Masonic Lodge in Shelby, N.C. for 67 years. He loved to revel in the fact that he brought his own father into the masonic membership. He was a lifelong and faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sharon, S.C., where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board for many years.

W.D. married Maggie Good and they moved to Rock Hill, S.C., where they spent over 60 years together.  He became a professional truck driver and worked for several companies, including Caretta and Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Company.  He traveled throughout the country for over 30 years and told many stories of his adventures across the United States. He always referenced how God was his protector, and without God, he never would have made it.  He also loved gardening and maintained a garden every year.

W.D. is preceded in death by his wife Maggie, a son Thurmond, and by his siblings Mary Frances Wright, Thomas Falls Feemster, Shelton Feemster, Doris Jackson, and Donald Feemster. He is survived by his children Alvin Feemster, Ernest Feemster (Carolyn), Gerri Bostick (Fred), Thalia Hardin (Mike), and William “Mike” Feemster (Dwinette); his nine grandchildren Tayari “Muffin” Feemster, Affonso Feemster, Christopher Bostick, Brittany Hardin, Jasmine Bostick, Corey Hardin, William Mitchell Feemster, Cassie Feemster, and raised in the home, Marcus Gary; his eight great-grandchildren Aderia, Isaac, Malik, Joshua, Justin, Jada, Journi and Jamora; his great-great granddaughter Gianna; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. His love and devotion to his family were evident and those around him loved his easy smile, his jokes, and his quotes. He lived to see five generations and his was a life well-lived.
