Mr. Walter "Eddie" Burris, 65, of 14 Watts Street, York, SC transitioned from this life on Friday, August 21, 2020 at home. Born January 28, 1955 in York, he was a son of the late Walter Burdell Williams and Roberta Barnette Burris.
He attended York County Public Schools. He joined Langrum Branch Baptist Church at an early age. Eddie worked for years as a brick mason with the late Rev. Dr. Grady Patton. He later moved to Kentucky with his brother, Robert, and retired from UPS.
Eddie, who most knew as "Quick," was always the life of the party until his health failed him. He loved everyone, which he showed by giving you the biggest bear hug. He loved his family, giving everyone he met a unique nickname. He loved to scare his great nieces and nephews as babies by grabbing them by their shirts and hanging them upside down. He also loved to fish, especially with his Mother and brother, Robert.
Eddie was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Burris, Willie Burris, and Tommie Burris; and two sisters, Dorothy Falls and Felicitas Tention.
Surviving to cherish fond memories are his sister and caregiver of the home, Debra Burris, and special nephew-caregivers, Ken Burris and Quazion Dixon; one daughter, Jacqueline McNeal of York, SC; four sisters, Elder Janice Burris of York, SC, Nancy Journee (Granville) of Cleveland, OH, Ruth Moore (James) and Juanita Wright (Perry) both of York, SC; brother, Phillip Duane White (Bridget) of Rock Hill, SC; brother-in-law, Charles Falls of Clover, SC; seven grandchildren: Jimaraye, Javiyahn, Jai'Eriyahn, Jamirez, Journey, Jhaycia, and JaRhian McNeal; six aunts: Sadie Bell Barnette, Sarah Barnette, Guynell Williams, Elizabeth Orr (Lafayette), Loretta Williams, and Juanita Miller; a special niece, Brachelle Neely-Moss; a special cousin and caregiver, Charles "Bone" Williams; and a special friend, David Crockett; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
