Miss Vivian Louise Quinn, 85, was born in York County, South Carolina, in the middle of a snowstorm on February 5th, 1936, to Ethel Collier and Howard Samuel Quinn. She departed this earth to be with her Lord on August 25th, 2021, at her home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, September 3, 2021 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC. Interment will immediately follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 prior to the service at Wright Funeral Home.
Affectionately known as V. Q., she was baptized and raised in Wesley United Methodist Church in York, SC. She was an active and dedicated member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees such as the PPRC, nominations committee and Trustee as well as a lay leader. A lover of children, she especially loved the children of Wesley and the community.
She attended York Public Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1953. She went on to graduate from Vorhees College in Denmark, SC with a degree in Nursing. Her career led her to Detroit, and eventually to New Jersey, where she worked for Upsala College and The Hospital Center at Orange. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years until she retired from The Hospital Center at Orange in 2000 and returned home to help take care of her mother.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and brother, Howard Lewis Quinn.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving niece, whom she helped raise, Franchette Quinn-Williams (Joel) of Columbia, SC; three great nephews, Joel Thomas Williams III and Seth Howard Williams, of Columbia, SC and Xavier Wright of Rock Hill, SC; a sister, Joelean Wright of York, SC; an adopted brother, Charles Randolph Wright of New York, NY; a niece, Bridget Wright White (Duane) of Rock Hill, SC; a nephew, Kevin Reid (Yolanda) of Kathleen, GA; a brother, Allen Cole (Patricia) of Greensboro, NC; a sister-in-law, Anita Quinn of Columbia, SC; two cherished friends, Elaine Kershaw and Dorothy Williams, both of York, SC; as well as a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
