1925 ~ The Obituary ~ 2020
Mrs. Viola Blair Tolbert was born September 21, 1925 in York County, SC to the late Clarence and Delodia Moore Blair. She departed this life peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones on December 23, 2020.
Viola attended York County Schools. She joined Langrum Branch Baptist Church at an early age. She was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Hymn Choir and Missionary member. Viola loved her church and her church family. She was a FAITHFUL member until her health declined.
Viola retired from York County Schools, where she worked for well over 30 years. After retirement, she enjoyed her life by doing the things she loved: visiting the sick, sitting on her porch, and walking. Some of her favorite things were watching Sandford and Son and the Price is Right. She always put others before herself in everything she did.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Tolbert, Sr., a daughter, Hattie McCoy; a son, Aurthur Lee Tolbert; brother, Andrew Blair; a sister, Annie Lee Mitchem; a son-in-law, Larry Hutchison; and daughter-in-law, Lucille Tolbert.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her children: William Tolbert, Jr., Martha Tolbert, Audrey Ann Hutchison, Dinness Tolbert, Wilma Tolbert, Dale Tolbert, Gloria T. Lowry (Ollie); eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
