Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home in York, SC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 12:30 prior the service. Burial will be private with the family.
Mr. Thomas C. Reid, Jr., 76, of 305 Boling Road, Taylors, SC, and formerly of York, SC, departed this life on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Reedy River Post Acute-East in Greenville, SC. Born December 22, 1947 in York, he was a son of the late Joelean Cole Reid and Thomas C. "T.C." Reid, Sr.
Tom, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was educated in York County Schools and attended Jefferson High School in York.
Tom was very intelligent, and during their early years together, would often help his younger siblings with their schoolwork. He enjoyed listening to music and collected hundreds of vinyl records.
Tom was a character with an infectious laugh, who would make others laugh along with him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Reid Williams and Dorothy Reid Stewart; two nephews, Chad Reid and Kenneth Williams, Jr.; and his best friend, Betty Lou Nesbitt, with whom he shared his life until her passing in 2020.
Left to cherish fond memories are five brothers, Wesley Reid (Patricia) of Plymouth, MN, Jerry Reid (Deborah) of Greensboro, NC, Herbert Reid (Rachel) of Kings Mountain, NC, Allen Cole (Patricia) of Greensboro, NC and Dennis Reid (Rhoda) of Stanley, NC; four sisters, Ardie R. Stewart of Greensboro, NC, Joelean Reid Wright of York, SC, Rutha L. Williams of Kings Mountain, NC, and Loretta Reid of Gastonia, NC; a brother-in-law, James H. Williams of York, SC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
