Thomas Phillips

Thomas Phillips, affectionately known as Gate, 69, of Gastonia, NC left his earthly home on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his home. Gate was born on September 5, 1954 in York, SC to the Late Thomas Harris and Alma Phillips.

Gate attended York County Schools and worked in construction most of his life. He was truly a great person to be around. He was funny and so full of life.

He enjoyed working, fishing, singing and dancing. He also loved spending time with his family and taking pictures. He was a wonderful uncle, brother and friend to many people. He loved his family with his whole heart and his presence will definitely be missed by all of those who knew him. 

Thomas was preceded in death by his Father, Thomas Harris; Mother, Alma Mae Phillips; Aunt, Hattie Allison; Uncle, Johnny Phillips; Nephew, Timothy Phillips; and niece, Melissa Phillips.

Left to cherish his fond memories are his sister, Martha Phillips; his brothers, Chris Phillips and Billy Phillips all of Gastonia, NC. His uncle Harry Phillips (Susie) of Lake Wylie, SC. Two very special cousins that were near and dear to his heart, Sarah Mason and James “BoDilly” Phillips of Gastonia, NC and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at First Antioch Interdenominational Church in Gastonia, NC with Rev. Celina Curry officiating.  Burial will follow at Uniondale Cemetery in York, SC.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, October 2nd at the funeral home.
