Funeral services will be 12:00 pm, Friday, April 17, 2026 at Mt. Zion Restoration Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC with Rev. Rodney Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park - Hollis Lakes in Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends at the home, 1705 Lighthouse Court, Rock Hill, SC on Wednesday, April 15th from 5-8 pm, and Thursday, April 16th from 3-8 pm.

Mr. Darby may be viewed from 11:00-12:00 on Friday prior to the service.

Rev. Steve Allen Darby, 60, of Rock Hill, SC, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.  Born on October 19, 1965, in Union, SC, Rev. Darby was the beloved son of the late Learners “Leon” Darby and Martha Darby.

A man of faith, strength, and compassion, he dedicated his life to serving others and spreading the Word of God. Rev. Darby was called to ministry in January 2001 at St. Luke No 1 Baptist Church in Sharon, SC. He was a Technical Lead at Bosch Rexroth for 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charlie, Leroy, and Arthur Darby; his sisters, Dessie Burriss and Carol Lee Darby; and his father-in-law, Samuel Wade Jr., and mother-in-law, Sallie Roseboro Wade.

Rev. Darby was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Sandra Darby of Rock Hill, SC, with whom he shared almost 40 years of marriage. Their union was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and faith. He was also a proud and loving father to his children, Desmond and Armani Darby, both of Lake Wylie, SC, and a cherished grandfather to his beloved grandson, Aubrey Darby.

In addition to his immediate family, Rev. Darby leaves to cherish his memory his goddaughter, Maurika Burris of Atlanta, and his honorary son, Jeff Rainey of York, SC. He is also survived by his siblings: Whitney (Karen) Darby of Lowrys, SC; Broncella McCree of Rock Hill, SC; Jimmy Darby of Rock Hill, SC; Martha Ann Finley of Columbia, SC; Maggie Ruth Burris of York, SC; Willie Osborn of NJ; and Mark (Michelle) Wade of Greenville, SC.

Rev. Darby will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his dedication to ministry, and the love he poured into his family and community. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

His presence, guidance, and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
