Mrs. Shirley McDaniel Anderson, 71, daughter of the late Thomas Jackson, Sr. and Thelma McDaniel Jackson, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Shirley was born August 27, 1950 in York, SC. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. She also attended Central Piedmont Community College.
Shirley loved life and she lived it to the fullest--enjoying traveling, family and good friends. Her family was very important to her. She adored every one of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She did her best to support them in any way she could.
Shirley loved her church and Clover Chapel family. She was an active member and served in many capacities, such as Chair of the PPRC and Administrative Council, Trustee Board member, and member of the Gospel Choir. She was also active in the community, serving on the Roosevelt Community Watch, Roosevelt Alumni Committee, and beloved "Thunderbirds" Social Club.
She worked for many years at Piedmont Medical Center in Inventory Management. She enjoyed the work that she did. Her work went beyond inventory. If she knew you were in the hospital, she was known to stop by and check on you. That was just the type of caring and loving person that she was.
Preceding her in death are a sister, Tonette McDaniel; and sister-in-love, Janet Montgomery.
Shirley leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, Walter Anderson; two children: daughter, Kim Patton of Gastonia, NC, and son, Michael Anderson, of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Thomas Jackson, Jr. (Alta) of Kings Mountain, NC and Donald Montgomery of Gastonia, NC; two sisters, Christine Fewell (Charles) of Gastonia, NC, and Joann Muhammad (Amin) of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren, JaQuan Anderson (Aaliyah) of Beaufort, SC, Jevon Patton, of Gastonia, NC, and Kailil Anderson of Atlanta, GA; one great-grandson, Carter Anderson of Beaufort, SC; two special adopted grandchildren, Rakeem McCree and Jonquaja Biggers, and two special adopted great-grandchildren, Deshon McCree and Milan Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Friday, January 7, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 519 W. 19th Street, Gastonia, NC. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to the service.
