Sunrise
Mrs. Sarah Louise (Adams) Miller, 83, "Snooki," as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born June 13, 1936 in York, South Carolina to the late Eldred and Berthenia Boyd Adams.
Sarah was a God-fearing, adventurous, outstanding woman who treasured life. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed.
A Life Well Lived
In the 1950s, Sarah moved from York, South Carolina to New York City. She married William Miller in 1958 in New York. They would eventually go on to buy a business called Wearite Auto Tops/Wearite Cleaning and Leasing, where they employed several people from the community, teaching them valuable trades of their upholstry business. They owned their business until they retired in 2015.
In 2015, Sarah and her husband moved from New York to Rock Hill, SC, where she rejoined her home church, New Home AME Zion Church. Sarah was a Deaconess, sang on the Hymn Choir and served as the choir Dress Coordinator. She also helped with the church food pantry, packing and distributing food to people in the community.
Sarah was involved in several organizations, such as the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held several ranks including: Daughter of the Sphinx, Heroines of Jerico 33rd Degree, and Worthy Grand Matron. These positions are among the highest courts of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Sunset
Sarah departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Testa Family Hospice house in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Siblings preceding her in death are two brothers, James Adams and Hayward Adams, and three sisters, Gladys Adams, Bertha Brown, and Elmira Anderson.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of over 60 years, William Miller of Gastonia, NC; her sons: Willie Miller (Andrea) of Queens, NY, Leon Brice (Barbara) of Rock Hill, SC, Richard Miller of New York, NY, Scott Miller of Rock Hill, SC, Dwayne Miller (Monica) and Jeremie Miller of Pennsylvania; her daughters: Dories Judge (Louis, Jr.) of Gastonia, NC, Glynn Miller of New York, NY, Jalena Miller of Queens, NY and Jasmyne Miller of Pennsylvania; her sisters: Pansy Anderson (James) of Rock Hill, SC, Gloria Agurs (Charles) of York, SC, and Catherine Williams (Rufus); her brothers: Walter Adams of Charlotte, NC and Ivory Lee Adams (Jamie) of Rock Hill, SC; twenty-three grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, her honorary sisters: Ann, Dot, Mama Lucy and Moselle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Miller will be private with the family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 2, 2020 at New Home AME Zion Church and Cemetery.
