Mr. Robert Lee "Butch" Dixon, 65, of 120 Rachael Road, York, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his home. Born November 9, 1953 in York, he was a son of the late Joseph and Kate Lowry Dixon.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 7, 2019 at White Hill AME Zion Church in York, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home, and other times at his home, and the home of Mrs. Beverly Dixon, 809 Finley Court, Rock Hill.
Butch, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, graduated from York High School Class of 1971. After graduation, he obtained his Associate’s Degree from York Technical College before beginning his career at Pharr Yarns in Clover, SC.
Butch was longtime and faithful member of White Hill AME Zion Church. There, he served as a former Sunday School Teacher, former President of the Men’s Ministry, and Lay Council member. He was also member of the Trustee and Steward Boards, as well as a Hymn Choir member.
Surviving to cherish fond memories are his wife, Beverly Cunningham Dixon of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter, Edith Dixon of Rock Hill, SC; a step-daughter, Courtney Cunningham of Rock Hill, SC; four siblings: Nancy Moore of Bellflower, CA, Sandra Dixon of Long Beach, CA, Catherine Thomasson of the home, and Mason Dixon (Patsy) of York, SC; two uncles, Wilbur Littlejohn of Charlotte, NC, and Tim Lowry (Josie) of York, SC; one aunt, Mary Sims of York, SC; a host of nieces and one nephew, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
