Graveside funeral services will be 2:30 pm, Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:30 prior to the service at the cemetery. **COVID-19 precautions will be observed, so please bring a mask.** Interment will immediately follow the service.
Mr. Robert David Ashe (aka R.D. or Pop), 87, of 839 Generation Lane, Clover, SC entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of the late Willie B. Currence Minter and R. B. Ashe.
Mr. Ashe retired from Smith Textiles and Machinery in Gastonia, NC after 38 years of service. R.D. was also an avid vintage trader.
Mr. Ashe was a member of Green Pond United Methodist Church in Clover, SC. He served his community as well, and was the proud owner of R.D. Café and Community Store for a number of years before his health declined.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Minter Holmes; a son-in-law, Kenneth D. McLarty; great-grandson, Jayden Williams; and a belated special cousin, June Hall.

Ashe of Morrow, GA, Dennis Ashe (Cheryl) of Gastonia, NC, and Angela Ashe of Clover, SC; Grandchildren: Malyqua Setzer Roberts (Harvey) of North Augusta, SC, Dr. Jennifer McLarty-Williams (David) of Irondale, AL, Kenna McLarty Wilson (Xavier) of Spartanburg, SC, Devin Bratton of Rock Hill, SC, Brandon McLarty of Spartanburg, SC, Matthew Bratton of Rock Hill, SC, David Ashe of Gastonia, NC and Joshua Ashe of Raleigh, NC; Great Grandchildren: JoQuarius Brown, Victoria Roberts, Zuri Wilson, Kendall Williams, Camille Roberts, Noah Bratton, Zaya Wilson, Davion “DaDa” Ashe, Reginald “RJ” Smith, and Jahari Ashe; Special family members: Dora Lee Burris, William “Jack” Jackson and Waddell “Butch” Lowery; and a host of close family members and friends.
