Mrs. Reber Williams Davis, 91, of 1915 Davis Farm Road, York, SC, departed this earthly life surrounded by family, Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Atrium Health, Pineville. She was born January 10, 1928 in York, the second eldest of five children, to the late Hogan and Carrie Adams Williams.
Mrs. Reber Davis was a devout, lifelong member of New Home AME Zion Church. She enjoyed serving as Youth Sunday School Teacher, singing on the Hymn Choir, and serving on the Stewardess Board. In 1990, she retired from York School District One's food service department. She took delight in talking with friends, working in the gardens, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Reber Davis is preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Davis, and siblings, Finley Williams, Nathaniel P. Williams, Ulysses "Boot" Williams, and Willie Mae Davidson.
She leaves to cherish her memory a husband of 70 years, James R. Davis, Sr. of the home; children, Helen Howse of York, SC, James Davis Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and Marx Davis, Sr. (Mia) of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Maurice Worthy of Fort Mill, SC, Marx Anthony Davis, Jr. of Air Force Academy, CO, Tara Davis, and Tori Davis both of Peachtree City, GA; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Byous of Los Angeles, CA, Dorothy Williams of Winston-Salem, NC, and Sarah Graham of Gastonia, NC; her children in love through many years, Willie Carl Davis (Glenice) of Rock Hill, SC and Elaine Davis, of York, SC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at New Home AME Zion Church with Rev. Carlton Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, March 8th at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
