Pansy Anderson Obituary

Mrs. Pansy Verner Adams Anderson, 89 years old, of 109 Scottie Court, Rock Hill, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 23, 2020 after a brief illness.

Pansy, as she was affectionately known, was born July 2, 1931 in York County to the late Eldred and Berthenia Boyd Adams. Pansy was well loved and was a friend to all who met and knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and neighbor. Pansy retired as a Registered Nurse after over 40 years of service in the healthcare field.

Pansy was married to her childhood sweetheart, James Anderson, for 67 years.

She grew up in York, and was a member of New Home AME Zion Church for many years. She matriculated to Jamaica, NY in the 1950's. There, she joined the Allen AME Zion Church. In 1994, she returned home to South Carolina, where she rejoined the New Home AME Zion Church. She sang on the Hymn and Inspirational Choirs, and was a Class Leader. Due to health challenges, Pansy made the choice to leave her home church and join her husband at White Hill AME Zion Church, where she also made a home on the Hymn Choir.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, entertaining, and going to Casinos. She always held a big community cookout for the neighbors and friends during holidays while in New York, and always found time to host the Scotties, her husband's Alumni, when they celebrated in the area.

Prior to entering into her sunset on Monday, Pansy is preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Berthenia Adams; her brothers, James and Heyward Adams; her sisters, Gladys Adams, Bertha Brown, Elmira Anderson, and Sarah Miller.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, James Albert Anderson of the home; her daughters, Shirley Drizzle (Michael Carson) of Neptune, New Jersey, Muriel McClain (Melvin) and Ellen Carroll of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Rev. Gloria Agurs (Charles) of York, SC, Catherine Williams (Rufus) of Aiken, SC; and brothers, Rev. Walter Adams of Charlotte, NC and Ivory Lee Adams (Jamie) of Rock Hill, SC; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren who were special to her heart; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she dearly loved.

Please observe ALL COVID precautions at both the funeral home and cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required.
