Ms. Norma Forney , 70, of 117 Belmont Mt Holly Rd, Belmont, departed this life on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Charlotte Health and Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. She was born on December 8, 1950 to the late Carl Sr and Rosena Forney in Belmont, NC.
Norma was a longtime employee of Charlotte Observer and a teacher for over 13 years for Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools and Gaston County Schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont Abbey College, and Masters Degree from Walden University.
She was a dedicated Christian who loved singing and praising the Lord. She was an incredible mother to her beautiful daughter, Samantha. Norma loved teaching kids, doing crossword puzzles, reading, watching TV land, road trips with her daughter, spending quality time with her amazing family and friends but most importantly singing for the Lord.
To cherish her memories are her daughter, Samantha Forney of Gastonia, two brothers, Carl Forney Jr. of Gastonia and Samuel Forney (Pam) of Belmont; three sisters, Clay Forney of the family home, Doreatha Mozee (Roosevelt) of Mt. Holly and Daphne Wickham (Andre’) Richmond Hill, GA, special niece/ sister whom she named, Keizah Shouse (Kenneth); one uncle, Kenneth Davie of GA; eight additional nieces and nephews, Matthew Cleaves, Michael Adams, Marquis Forney (Adrienne), Joseph Brown (Erin), Chevon Forney, Dabney Wickham, Eric Wickham, Diana Wickham and ten great nieces and nephews, Portia Shouse, Paije Shouse, KJ Shouse, Ashley Sanburg, Christopher Cook Jr, Elijah Forney, Danae’ Cook, Channing McCorkle, Caroline Brown, Ava Joy Forney & host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at O'Connor Grove AME Zion Church in Belmont, NC with Rev. Michael A. Glenn as eulogist. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am, prior to the service. Burial will be private with the family.
