Mr. Neil Perry Choate, of 1499 Tom Joye Road, Clover, SC departed this life on Friday, March 4, 2022 at home. Born June 25, 1949 in York County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Virginia Lindsay Choate.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 12-1 pm Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home in York.
Perry was a faithful, lifelong member of Liberty Hill AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, SC where he served as a member of the Trustee Ministry for many years. He also served as a Steward and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Perry was a proud veteran of the US Navy. After his service, he worked for 25 years at Meritor Inc as a brake inspector. He greatly enjoyed watching NFL games especially his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Cruising was one of his favorite vacation pastimes. He will be remembered by many for his sweet demeanor and caring spirit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, John A. “Bubba” Choates and sister, Elsie Weems.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ellen Choate, daughters Vanessa Choate of Atlanta, GA and Sara Choate of Clover, SC; sister, Wilma Clapps and brothers Roy Choate (Cynthia) and Ray Choate all of Clover, SC.
