Mrs. Naomi Gilmore Kendrick, 73, went home to the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. She was born April 9, 1947 in York, SC, a daughter of the late Mansel and Ruth Bratton Gilmore.
Graveside services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, May 1, 2020 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC with Rev. George A. McCoy officiating. VIEWING ONLY will be from 11:30 to 12:30 pm, Friday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York prior to the funeral graveside. We will exercise all caution to protect our family and staff from COVID-19, so please act accordingly. Due to these precautionary measures, the family is not accepting any gifts or memorials at their home.
Naomi was a 1966 Graduate of Jefferson High School, and after several years working in textile manufacturing, she found her calling. Naomi worked for 45 years as a Special Education Teacher's Aide with York School District One. There she fostered and joked around with decades of children, where she got to attend all the games and sporting events, which was her passion. And it was at all the sporting events that she became "The Ticket Lady."
Naomi also especially loved her family and cooking! York was her home, and she didn't truly want to be anywhere else. She also loved going to church, especially her Gold Hill Baptist Church family.
Preceding her in death are five brothers: John Lewis Gilmore, Sammy Gilmore, Robert Lee Gilmore, William Gilmore, Sr., and Eddie M. Gilmore; and one sister, Ruthie McConnell.
Surviving to cherish loving memories are her husband, George Kendrick, Jr. of the home; three sons, Jeffrey Thompson, Sr. (Sharon) of Rock Hill, SC, Michael Thompson of the home, and Daryl Thompson (Tammie) of Rock Hill, SC; three grandchildren: Jeffrey L. Thompson, Jr. (Laury), Shaderia Thompson, and Daryl Seven Thompson; one great-grandchild, Jeffrey Thompson, III; four sisters, Sarah Sanders (Sam) of York, SC, Belle Falls of Gastonia, NC, Margaret Finch of Rock Hill, SC, and Diane Odom (Robert) of York, SC; two brothers, George Gilmore (Adrian) of Boston, MA, and Larry Ray Gilmore of Washington, DC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
