Nancy (Wade) Minter

Mrs. Nancy Wade Minter, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care (Wayne T. Patrick Hospice Center), in Rock Hill, SC. She was born, January 25, 1937 in McConnells, SC to the late Walker and Bertha Mobley Wade.

She joined St. John Baptist Church in Sharon where she served faithfully for many years. Later, she and her husband joined St. James AME Zion Church in Hickory Grove. When she stopped driving, she attended church with her children at Flat Rock Baptist Church in Clover until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

Nancy also known as “Mama Nancy” and “Nana” was a homemaker and after raising her children, she worked for several families in the Hickory Grove area. Her primary mission in life was to take care of her family and serve the Lord. She was soft spoken but spoke her mind. She was a great cook and she loved the outdoors where she spent countless hours working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She loved her cats - - all five of them. She never met a stranger and if you ever came to visit her, you had better plan on staying for a couple of hours because she loved to talk and she never let you leave empty handed. She was the “Hallmark Lady." She enjoyed sending cards to her family and friends.

Inspite of having lung cancer, she never complained and would often remind us that “King Jesus was her Captain”. She never worried about anything. She loved her family, and missed her husband dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Albert Minter, Sr.; Her son, James Albert Minter, Jr.; Brothers, John Wade, Charlie Wade and Walker Wade Jr.; Sisters, Sarah Young, Amiee McCaw, Maggie Kelley and Mary Sanders.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories four children, Linda Minter Parks, David Richard Minter (Rose Marie), Rose Minter Greer, and Jan Minter McKiver; Five Grandchildren, Melnie Minter, Mallory Minter, Niki Minter, Ashley Greer and Alani Greer; One Great Granddaugter, Amanti Greer; her godson , Robert McBeth; Her Step-granddaughter Melissa McCaw (Will) and Step-great grandchildren Jordan, Grace, and Gabrielle McCaw.

Her brothers, Robert Wade (Nettie), William Wade, and Jerry Wade (Phyllis). Sisters Alberta Hill, Gloria Johnson (Franklin), Julia Cox, Lassie Burris, Janie Anderson (Clarence), and Lilly Crawford (Johnny). Sisters-in-law, Sarah Douglas and Maragerite Adams and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Her extended family Bill and Ruth Wilkerson, Don and Linda Rhodes, Steve and Helen Boyd, Chris and Frances Faulkner, The Whitesides Family, Henry and Helen Ramsey, Barbara Good, Joan McClean, Kenny and Ann Gilfillan, The Moss Family and The Latham Family.
