Mildred Brooks Obituary
Mrs. Mildred Brooks, 103, of 3085 Sharon Road, York, SC passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at her home.
On May 9th 1915, Mildred Hawkins Brooks was born to Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hawkins in Birmingham, Alabama. The family later moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she became a member of New Hope Baptist Church. The family then moved to South Plainfield, and there she became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
When Mildred decided to return south, she then moved to Sharon, South Carolina, and became a member of St. Luke #2 Baptist Church.
Mildred was the oldest of three children, including a sister, Lavonia Beckford, and brother who preceded her in death, Melvin Hawkins. She was married to Cleophus Brooks and they had two sons, Cleophus, Jr., who preceded her in death, and Ronald.
She leaves to cherish her memories Ronald (Rosa) and eight grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St. Luke #2 Baptist Church in Sharon, SC with Rev. Percell Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon prior to the service.
