Melvin "Boy" Hagins

Mr. Melvin Hagins, 70, better known as "Boy," or "Snow," passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill, SC.  Born April 28, 1953 in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late Maggie Curry.

After graduating high school, he entered into a longtime textile career--working as a supervisor at Fieldcrest Cannon for over 20 years and ending his time at Pharr Yarns after over 30 years in textiles. 

Melvin was very athletic, and he loved playing basketball and softball.

He also took pride in designing his green van, which was entered into several car shows and won awards. He loved cars and had several "classics" over the years.

Later in life he gave his life to Christ, and joined New Zion Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC. It was a great source of pride and comfort in his later years.

Melvin leaves behind three sons: Melvrick Lowery, Christopher K. Phillips (Krista), and Brandan Hagins; a daughter, Jocelin Phillips; four grandsons: Devyn Lowery, Kennedy McCullough, Bryson Hagins, and Miles C. Phillips; two granddaughters, Amaja Westbrook and Ayvah Williams; a special cousin who was like a sister, Francine Hagins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 2:30 pm, Sunday, October 15 at New Zion Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC.
