Margie (Howell) Burris

Mrs. Margie Howell Burris was born May 29, 1932 in Hickory Grove, SC to the late John Henry and Cedalia Galmon Howell. She departed this life on January 28, 2021 after an extended illness.

          She grew up in a large family of eleven, receiving lots of love and devotion. She was educated in Cherokee County Public Schools. She was married to the love of her life, Eugene Burris, for over 50 years, and they shared an active life together until his passing in 2007.

          She was a loyal employee for Celanese Corporation, where she retired after 30 years of service and began enjoying the life of leisure. Mack, as she was called, was loved and respected by her neighbors. They will surely miss her generous spirit and feisty personality. Her pleasures in life were watching the Young & Restless and the Atlanta Braves.

          She leaves to cherish loving memories a sister, Helen Pharr of York, SC; a brother, James Howell (JW) of York, SC; a brother-in-law, William Sims of Gastonia, NC; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a dedicated niece and caregiver, Tamara Davis (Zack),  who will remember her forever.

            Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC, with Apostle John T. Brown officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service.

                    The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm, Wednesday, February 3rd at the funeral home.
