Lydell Logan Obituary

Lydell Jordan Logan was born April 24,1920, a daughter of the late Alexander Littlejohn and Osha Jordan Spears in Charlotte, NC. She celebrated 104 years during her earthly life.

Lydell was raised by her Grandparents, Andrew Jordan and Mary Sanders, after her mom passed away when she was 2 years old.

She worked for many years as a winder at Sullivan Carson. She also enjoyed a number of years as a patient sitter.

She was a member of Hillstreet Church of God in York, SC. She had strong faith and put everything in the Master's Hands. The wisdom she bestowed upon us was incredible. You were only promised threescore and ten years, yet she more than exceeded that! She was a blessing to us for 104 years! Honor thy mother and father and your days will be longer. She was a great child.

She was known by a variety of names to her family and friends such as: Mrs. Logan, MA, grandma, gran-gran, day-day, maw maw, Dell and Lydt, as she was affectionately called by her husband Beatty.

She was the Matriarch of her Family, of which she was blessed to see 6 Generations. She enjoyed sitting on the porch when the weather was warm surrounded by her Army of Grandchildren. Lydell loved to sing her favorite song "It's getting late in the evening and the sun is going down". She let you know during her story telling about her life, how she walked to work in the snow with her moonboots on.

Lydell was known to be a classy lady, well-dressed from head to toe when she stepped out.

She married the love of her life, Beatty Logan, on August 6, 1947. They had 8 Children, of which five have already gone to be with the Lord: Joseph Clinton Stribble, Brenda Dian Robbins, Marion Leon Logan, along with infant children, Leonard and Aratha. She is also preceded in death by a Grandson, Joseph Hemphill; and two Great-Granddaughters, Sharelle Logan and Raven Hill, who are rejoicing in heaven as well.

Surviving to cherish loving memories are three Children: Dorothy Jean Burkins, Betty Lou Brown, and Margaret Ruth Davis, all of York, SC; two grandchildren she reared in the home, Darlene Logan and Tony Logan both of York, SC; two additional sons whom she helped rear, Christopher and Bradley Childers of York, SC; One Daughter in law, Dorothy Stribble of Rock Hill ,SC; 21 Grandchildren, 56 Great-Grandchildren, 87 Great-Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Great Grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives.
