Mr. Lewis Anthony Wright entered into his heavenly home on July 17, 2024 in Sharon, SC. Born on June 21, 1950. He was the son of Charlie and Ollie Bell (Brown) Wright.
He was earned his formal education in the York School district, and graduated Jefferson High School in 1968. Upon graduating he joined the US. Army and served dutifully from 1970 until 1973.Upon returning home from the Miliary he pursued secondary education and earned post graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from York Technical College, and Brick Masonry with Architectural Drafting from Denmark Technical College.
He was a faithful and devoted member of Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church, where he served as a Chairman of Trustee Board, Usher Board and Kitchen Committee member. He was also a Co-Chairperson for the Men of Zion.
He was a retired Mechanical Engineer from Huffman Corporation, Clover, SC and J& L Metrology Textron, York SC. He was revered, loved and known as a hard-working Brick Mason, Engineer, Piping Designer, and incredible builder throughout York, Chester and surrounding areas. Upon his retirement, he reached back to the youth and successfully taught Shop and Brick Masonry to students at Chester High School.
He loved building, working in his shop, and being the go-to man and “fixer” in the family. But above all his successes, he loved and adored his family above all. Serving as the Patriarch of the family gave him much joy and purpose. He served as the father figure to countless generations. He instilled strong foundations in everyone he encountered, his legacy is boundless.
He is preceded in death by his parents the late Charlie and Ollie Bell Wright. His brothers Jerry Wright and Charles T Wright.
Surviving to carry on his legacy his loving and devoted wife, Annie Sue (King) Wright of 51 years; Two loving daughters, Kemblie (James) Adams, and Valerie Wright; One son, Anthony Wright, and one grandson reared in the home as a son Quention (Nichohia) Wright; One granddaughter, Jasmine (Tyquivis) Wright; Four Great-Grandchildren and one on the way; Two sisters, Mary Wright and Annie Jean Wright, and Brother, David Wright; and Four Sisters-in-Law, Josephine Good, Aggie Bell King, Jessie Mae Boulware, and Johnnie Pearl Darby. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of close cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church in Sharon, SC, with Rev. Laveria Wynn officiating, and Rev. Forrest Woodard eulogizing.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be observed from 5:30 to 6:15. Please be aware that there can be no entrance or exit during the rites.
