Kevin Flanagan Obituary

Kevin West Flanagan passed away on November 26, 2023 at the age of 65 in his hometown of Fort Mill, South Carolina. He was making significant improvements in his health, but unexpectedly had a heart attack.

As a child, Kevin dreamed of becoming an architect, and used his undergraduate degree to teach industrial technology at high schools after he and his family moved from Oklahoma to Kansas in 1990. After a few years, Kevin decided to make a career change, and started to study information technology. He spent the past twenty-three years as an Information Technology Project Manager.

In his free time, Kevin enjoyed cross-stitching, volunteered as the Cub Scout Pack Leader when his sons were younger, golfing, woodworking, singing, and relaxing at bookstores.

As a dad, Kevin’s favorite thing to say was “Does your face hurt?...because it’s killing me!” His children always loved to hear his New England accent randomly insert itself into conversations when he would add a “r” to words like idea saying “idear” or remove a “r” when ordering a glass of “wata” at the restaurant.

He is survived by his parents, Benjamin and Mary Jane Flanagan; sister, Wendy Flanagan; former wife, Shari Caughron, and their children: Ryan (Alisha), Kean (Kelsey), Brennan, and Caitlyn Flanagan; and his six grandchildren: Arabella Flanagan, Makylie Sexton-Flanagan, Lillian Flanagan, Gannon Flanagan, Rhodes Flanagan, and Eloise Flanagan.

Kevin will be honored with a celebration of life at Mill Creek Community Church in Shawnee, Kansas on March 2, 2024 at 2PM, and will have his ashes spread in Rhode Island, per his wishes, later in the year.
