Justin Edward Costner, 42, of 94 Turkey Creek Road, York, SC departed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2024. He was born January 8, 1982 at the former Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC to Sarah Costner Stephens and the late Tommy Chastain.
Justin loved hanging out with family and friends and was very proud of his sons. He enjoyed his nieces and nephews, especially Kayla, Katilyn, Matt-Matt, Sophia and Gavin Waldrop, and was definitely the jokester in the family. He loved to joke that he was stronger than everyone else—even when he wasn’t.
Preceding him death are his father, Tommy Chastain; Grandparents: Jay and Betty Costner and Ray and Margie Chastain; two uncles, Jay Costner, Jr. and David Chastain; two aunts, Cecilia Griffith and Sharon Franklin; and a half-sister, Melissa Anne Petrie.
Surviving to cherish fond memories are his parents: Sarah Costner Stephens and husband, Doug Stephens of the home, and Carolyn and Bobby Atchley of Blacksburg, SC; four sons, Alan Costner, Chris Costner, Dawson Linder and Nicolas Linder; his sons’ mothers, Jennifer Costner and Tiffany Broome; his sister, Loretta Welch; two brothers, Matt Waldrop and his wife, Manda, and Robert Waldrop and his wife, Sarah; special cousins raised as siblings: Jenny Crotts, Nikki Harkey, and Barbara Crumpton; his aunt, Brenda Pettus and husband Laiton; his godparents, Bobby and Lisa Chastain; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
