Julie Belle Wilson “Sugar,” age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in Sarasota, Florida. Julie was born on December 24th 1940, in Albany, Georgia.
She graduated from Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy in Jacksonville, Florida before attending Tuskegee University in 1958. While there, Julie met the love of her life Edgar Davis Wilson Jr, whom she married in 1961. These two, a match made in heaven, found great happiness in each other and their adventures in Germany after Edgar enlisted in the United States Army. Julie and Edgar welcomed their first-born son, Edgar Davis Wilson III in Germany, and upon returning to the US welcomed their second son, Belford Scott Wilson.
As the family relocated from North Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland, Julie worked many years as an analyst and instructor for the Social Security Administration. Upon her retirement, she became a devoted and active member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church. She became immersed in the music ministry as a choir member. Julie also relished her role as an instructor for the Discipleship Program, and as a “second Mom” to so many in her church family.
Julie will be fondly remembered by friends and family as a free-spirit, wise and generous giver, loving wife, devoted mother, and true friend. She was known for her calm assurance, optimism, quick wit, easy smile, and contagious laugh. To her friends and family, she served as an inspiration for unshakable faith, dedication to family, and commitment to building friendships that last a lifetime.
Julie is survived by her sons, Edgar Wilson III and Belford Wilson, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
