II Timothy 4:6-8

Mr. Johnny Mason Brown, “J.B,” of 303 California Street, York, SC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at home. Born February 13, 1954 in York, he was a son of the late Sam and Janie Wilks Brown.

JB was educated in York County Schools, and went to work at an early age for several different textile manufacturers—namely Cannon Mills, Clover Yarn, and Fruit of the Loom. He then joined the City of York’s maintenance team, where he retired after over 15 years of service.

He was a dedicated member of Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church and loved his church family. JB served Clinton Chapel as on the Evangelism Team and Kitchen Committee, as well as Vice Chair to the Trustee Board. He was also part of the yard and lawn management crew.

JB was joined in holy matrimony to Sheryl Horry Brown on May 13, 1995. He was a very loving, kind-hearted, and humble man who was always flashing his “million-dollar smile.” He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, André Brown; a brother, Terry Brown; and his loving aunt who reared him, Louise Wilks.

Surviving to cherish loving memories are his wife of 30 years, Sheryl Horry Brown; five daughters, Audrey Davie (Jeff), Tequilla Baxter (Gabriel), Min. Kevetta M. Clark (Jason), Chanta Meeks (Santwain) and Andria Burris (Bamarca); three sons, Justin Horry (Ashley), Emmanuel Johnson-Horry, and Christopher Brown (Di’Aundrea); three siblings, Sammy Brown (Mae Rose), Kathy Brown Good (Clayburn), and Deloris Brown; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Rhodes; his beloved grandmother-in-law, Josie Guthrie; several special friends: Demond Rawlinson, Richard Thompson, Randy Jones, David Starnes, Silas Mobley, Rick Good and his cousin, Hugh Sims, who was like a brother; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
