John Alexander Carothers, Jr.

Mr. John Alexander “Peanut” Carothers was born on October 15th, 1962 to his beloved mother Elizabeth Carothers and the late Johnny Alexander Carothers both of Gaston County. He departed this journey of life on November 12, 2023 at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte, North Carolina.

John attended South Point High School in Belmont, North Carolina. Like so many people in the world, John was a “HUGE” diehard fan of “America’s Football Team”...the Dallas Cowboys!

He was a lifelong member of Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, where he served faithfully on the media ministry, trustee board, and so much more. John worked tirelessly serving God, his pastor, and his church!

John loved driving 18-wheeler trucks, where he would travel from coast to coast. He started his own lawn care service, JC Lawn Services, where he spent and enjoyed most of his time! He loved every single customer he had, making sure they were fully taken care of! John could take the most serious topic of discussion and create a room full of knee-slapping laughter within minutes.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife for 37 years, Ann R. Carothers of the home; Two daughters: Deondra Carothers of Fort Mill, SC and Brittany Carothers of Lake Wylie, SC; One grandson, Kaison D’Mir Brice of Lake Wylie, SC whom he loved dearly; One sister, Sharon Solomon (Craig) of Mt Holly, NC; One brother, Jeffery Carothers of Charlotte, NC; Two sisters-n-law, Carmen Bigger (Anthony) of Lake Wylie, SC, Tasha Hippolyte (Aaron) of Washington, DC; one brother-n-law, Derrick Reid (Anita) of Rock Hill, SC; Two nieces, Six nephews, and a host of other relatives and loved ones. Special aunts, Billie Nancy Phillips, Clara Porter; Mary Sherer, Hattie Mason, and Frances Carothers. A special “sister,” Angela Jennings; Two special god children, Isaiah Sadler and Samariah Sadler; Special friends/brothers Jeffery Barnette, Tom O’Neil, John O’Neil, Lathen Gill, John Edward, and Dr. Rev. Terrence Jones.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 prior to the service.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
