Mrs. Joanne C. Lentz, of 205 Robin Lane, York, SC passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in York, SC.

Joanne Cabe Lentz was born in Clover, SC to Thelma and Joe Cabe and grew up in York, SC. A graduate of York High School, class of ‘68, she earned her associate degree in Business from York Technical College.

She worked at a florist shop as a teen.  She went on to work at Cannon Mills for 26 years, rising to become a Supervisor. She opened her own store, Michelle’s Flower Shop in downtown York in 1990. She included a variety of items for her downtown store, including jewelry.

Joanne married Wayne Lentz on July 4, 1971 and together they raised their daughter, Michelle Lentz who later married Mason Dawson. Joanne lived for her daughter, son-in-law, and her two grandsons, Camden and Jameson. They frequently hung out at the store with Joanne.

Joanne was very active at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, was a member of the Rainbow Circle, gave the children’s sermons and led the youth group for many years. Some of her activities came to an end when she suffered from a detached retina in 2000 that left her legally blind. She loved church music, especially Southern Gospel. She also enjoyed watching the QVC channel and Hallmark movies. She loved to cook and found a sense of purpose there.

Joanne was predeceased by her mother, father, and her older brother Tommy. She is survived by Tommy’s wife Trudy and their children, Dean Cabe, Davie Cabe and Debbie Cook. Her sister Peggy (Keith) Hargett and daughter, Alissa Meredith. Her brother Bill (Freda) Cabe and their children, Josh Cabe, Jeremy Cabe and Joy Terhune. And many surviving great nieces and nephews.
