Jerry Woods

Mr. Jerry Woods, 75, entered into the heavenly choir on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. Born August 4, 1950 in York County, SC, he was the son of Gilbert and Frances Woods.

He graduated with honors from Roosevelt High, the last segregated class. His motto was “not to equal but to excel.” He loved his family and his community. He accepted people for who they were. His ministry was giving people a second chance.

Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam. He was a faithful member of New High Springs Baptist Church. He was the co-owner of Woods Custom Cycles in Gastonia NC. He was a collector of odd things. He loved to watch football and ride motorcycles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gilbert Woods, Jr. and David Woods.

Surviving to cherish fond memories are his daughters, Jeketa Harris (Quentin) of Belmont, NC and Brittany Adair (Rachon Stowe) of Gastonia, NC; three sisters, Sadie Brice (Calvin), Annie Burris, and Nell Pressley (Elaizer) of Rock Hill, SC; five brothers, Kelly Woods and Dr. Charles Woods (Wanda) of Gastonia NC, Jeffery Woods of Gaffney, SC, Frank Woods and Larry Woods (Kimberly) of Rock Hill, SC. 

Jerry is also survived by his former wife and friend, Doris Woods of Gastonia, NC; his grandchildren, Elijah, Xavier, Naalah, and Vegas of Gastonia NC, Alaina and Ava of Belmont NC; His nephews, Kelvin Woods and Spencer Woods (Annette) of Gastonia NC;  his sister-in-law, Marcella Woods of Rock Hill, SC; honorary daughter, Marissa Moore of Belmont, NC; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 18, 2026 at New High Springs Baptist Church, 811 S. Dalton Street, Gastonia, NC, and burial to follow at 12:30 pm, Salisbury National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 20th. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
