Mrs. Jennie Mae Knox Robbins, 97, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and formerly of Clover, SC, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Born July 16, 1927 in York County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Rob and Virgie Douglas Knox.
Jennie Mae loved the Lord and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized. She served on the Usher Board Ministry for many years where she greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and a good laugh to go along with it. She was also a member of the Missionary Society where she served faithfully. She never missed an opportunity to serve the Church in any capacity she could.
Jennie Mae worked a number of years for the Hungry Fisherman Restaurant. She then moved on to Burlington Mills where she worked up until she retired. There, she made many friends and acquaintances. Jennie didn’t stop working after retirement but instead went into domestic work, where she served the Caldwell Family until she retired from working altogether.
Jennie loved to travel and was always on the move. Whether it was going to visit family and friends, or traveling from church to church, she was always ready for a good car ride or bus trip. She loved to fish-- it was one of her favorite hobbies. Baseball was her favorite sport and you could often find her fussing at an umpire during the season.
In addition to her parents Jennie Mae is preceded in death by her husband Billie Robbins; son Harry Sadler; daughter Shirley Dunlap; and brothers, William Setzer, Robert Lee Knox, and Scoffield Knox.
Surviving to cherish loving memories are grandson, Warren Dunlap (Lashaunda) of Chesapeake, VA ; her daughter, Angela Nicole “Nikki” Seigle of Gastonia, NC; daughter- in- law, Sarah Sadler of Gastonia, NC; son, Randy Setzer of Gastonia, NC; a special niece, Dorothy “Dot” June of Lake Wylie, SC; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
