James Henry "Parker" Burris was born on November 27, 1951 to the late Robert Burris and Emma Lawrence Burris.
Parker was a member of Green Pond Methodist Church, where he confirmed his faith. He was educated in the Clover School District. Parker worked at the Victory Mill for 30 years in Gastonia NC. He retired from Winthrop University in 2007 after 8 years, as a grounds keeper. He was a quiet man of few words, he meant what he said, a true man of his word. Parker was a hard worker, who took pride in his work.. Parker loved his family as a whole and he was a very family oriented man.
One of his passions was going to different restaurants to eat. He loved creating masterpieces in his yard. Parker's favorite moment was putting the toys together for grandchildren at Christmas time, of course he had to test them out first, but he enjoyed the holidays. He would decorate outdoors with fancy lights because he loved to see the smiles on his grandchildren's faces. His past time was sitting on the porch drinking Mountain Dew and eating his cookies. He loved listening to music. Parker was a strong, determined man. He enjoyed traveling to the beach and Charleston.
Parker is preceded in death by 3 daughters, DeCole, Twilda, and Katie; 2 sisters, Mae Shirley, and Grace; and 2 brothers, John Andy Burris and Kenny Robinson.
Parker leaves to cherish his memory a devoted, loving wife Willie Ann of 43 years; supportive children, Tasha, Tony, Michael Sr (Christina), Janay, and Dontae; doting grandchildren, De'Asia, of the home, Jabryal, WilAnndra, Parker, Manaysia, James "Jay" Jr, Michael Jr, Mattie, Kaliyah, Tionna, Jamera, James A Jr, and Chloé. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, Robert Lewis Burris (Dora) of Clover, SC, James and Robert Earl Robinson of Washington, DC; Special friend, Angela Martin-Torreance; Caregiver, Terry Berry; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
