James Ralph Thompson

James Ralph Thompson, “Hause,” went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Ralph, as he was affectionately known, was born October 6, 1941 in Sharon, SC. He was a son of the late Vester and Louise Brown Thompson.

Ralph was a 1963 graduate of Finley High School, where he is remembered as a beloved bus driver. He was baptized at an early age at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church. He was employed with Milliken Textile Plan for 35 years, where he was a knitting technician. Ralph loved to hunt and fish, and had a sizable collection of guns and fishing rods. He was an avid gardener as well, and took pride in cultivating his summer gardens. Ralph was also blessed in the skill of wood-working and for years spent his free time building yard furniture and other novelties.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Louise Brown Thompson; his oldest sister, Everlene Jeter; brother-in-law, Columbus Jeter; and beloved nephew, Eddie Jeter, Sr.

He leaves behind to cherish fond memories his children, Rachel F. Thompson and Valencia T. Banks (James); grandchildren: Ava and James Banks; his sisters, Maybelle Thompson and Betty Jean Burris; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 23, 2022 at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon, SC with Rev. Daemon Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the funeral home.
