James T. Jones III, son of Denise Smalls and James Jones Jr., was born on February 19, 1974 at Monclair Community Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey.
He grew up in Essex County, New Jersey, where he attended elementary school. Later, he relocated with his family to Edison, New Jersey where he completed High School in 1993.
James worked for various retail and customer service-based companies in New Jersey before settling into a career in Telecommunications at Verizon Wireless where he held various positions across a span of 15 years. James relocated with the company to Wilmington, North Carolina and became a homeowner. During his tenure at Verizon Wireless, he also worked diligently to continue his education. His thirst for knowledge and determination allowed him to graduate with his Master’s degree in Psychology from Phoenix University.
James had a huge heart and in his free time he took the steps needed to become a foster parent and founded an organization called A Cry for Help. His huge heart allowed him to not only open his heart but his home to young children in need. James has one son of a previous relationship. He adopted a son and fostered various children in need.
After his time ended at Verizon Wireless, James then relocated to South Carolina where he began a new chapter in life. He went on to work as a Fleet Services Specialist for a subsidiary of American Airlines in Charlotte, North Carolina where he was adored by his coworkers and superiors.
James was a fun-loving & giving soul with a heart of gold, he recently wed on February 16, 2020 to his soul mate Samuel Mireles and became James T. Mireles- Jones III. James loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with his new husband, in laws, and additions to his family.
James was called home on November 28, 2020. He leaves behind his loving husband Samuel Mireles-Jones, his mother Denise Smalls and his father James T. Jones Jr.; and his sons, Daylon Jones, Joshua Jones, James Erickson, and Marcus Browand. He is also survived by his sisters Ericka & Janeene Jones, Latanya Dunn and Cassandra Brown; Uncles Dennis and Durwin Smalls, as well as a host of loving Aunts, Cousins, In-Laws, Extended Family and Associates.
