Inez Wright Obituary

Today we celebrate the life of Mrs. Inez Tigler Wright, 101, who transitioned from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at White Oak Manor, York, South Carolina.  She was born September 27, 1917 in Filbert, South Carolina to the late Madison and Lizzie Alexander Tigler, and was the last surviving sibling of eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. James United Methodist Church in York, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 4, 2019 at the funeral home.  Eastern Star Rites will begin promptly at 6:30 pm.

Mrs. Wright along with family and friends celebrated her 100th birthday in September 2017.  Her secret to a life well lived was:  “Honey, just have faith and trust in the Lord. He will provide.”

Mrs. Wright joined St. James United Methodist Church at an early age and was a faithful and active member until her health declined.  She was the oldest member of St. James and supported all activities of the church.  She served as a Communion Steward, on the Hymn Choir, and was a dedicated member of United Methodist Women.  During part of her active years, she worked with the youth and children of the church, forming the very first children’s choir.

Mrs. Wright was a Charter Member of Wilson Chapter No. 207 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as the very first Star Point-Ruth.  In addition, she served for many years as the Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac C. (IC) Wright, Sr..  Mrs. Wright was known in Clover for her delicious pound cakes and her mouthwatering lemon bars. She was a skillful seamstress, who along with her sister, Doretha Murray, designed and created their own sewing patterns.

Left to cherish fond memories are one son, Isaac (Ike) Wright (Veronica) of Charlotte, NC.; two grandsons, Wendell Wright of Clover, SC and Stephen Watkins of Charlotte, NC; one great-grandson, Braylen Wright, Ocala, Florida; her former daughter in law, Wendy Wright (who was the daughter she never had), Clover, SC; two special caring friends, Josie Lowry and Barbara Good, York, SC; White Oak Manor, York, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
