She attended York County Public Schools. Jean loved her church and church family. She was a longtime member of White Hill AME Zion Church, where she served as an Usher, and member of her beloved Hymn Choir. She enjoyed reading God’s word and then connecting the word with the hymns she loved singing.
She was joined in holy matrimony to William “Bubba” Gore on April 27, 2000, and was a loving homemaker. Jean could not only be found caring for her own home, but other elderly friends and family, ironing clothes, cooking food, and being a companion in their time of need.
She was most affectionately known as “that lady on the bicycle,” as she road all over York having good time talking to those she met along the way. Jean also let everyone know her team was the Dallas Cowboys—she loved her team!
Jean is preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Carothers and Roberta Watkins; and two brothers, William “Billy” Watkins and Bobby Watkins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, William Gore of the home; a daughter, Kisha Watkins of Rock Hill, SC; a son, Demetrius Cherry of Sandy Springs, GA; grandchildren: Ashley Watkins, Quanedra McKee, Nikeria McKee, and Na-Ridger Pickett; great-grandchildren: Jaden Baxter, Jacoby Russell, Gionna Moffatt, and Damani J.
