Hattie Mills Obituary

     Mrs. Hattie M. Mills, 84, of 1170 Cardinal Pointe Drive, Rock Hill, SC passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her home.  Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at White Hill AME Zion Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hattie Moore Mills, 84 years old, of 1170 Cardinal Point Dr, Rock Hill, SC entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

            Hattie Mae or Mae, as she was affectionately known, was born January 24, 1939, in York County to the late Fannie Lowery and Thomas Moore, but was reared by Rev. John & Bessie Moore.   Hattie Mae was well loved by all, was a friend to all, and never met a stranger.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and neighbor.  She was small in stature but big in heart.  Hattie was a domestic worker for many years.  She also worked in childcare and as a greeter for Walmart.

            Hattie Mae was married to the love of her life, Wilma Mills, and the mother of one son, Michael Mills. 

            She grew up in York and was a lifelong member of the White Hill AME Zion Church.  She attended Jefferson High School. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She loved traveling with family and was always ready to go when she heard mention of a family outing or trip. 

            Prior to entering her own sunset on March 14th, Hattie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, The late Jake and Fannie Lowry-Bryant; adopted parents Rev. John and Bessie Moore; son Michael Mills, and bonus daughter Pat; grandsons Wayne and Tavarres; a sister, Catherine Lowery Byrd, and brothers, James Robert  and Sam W. Lowery.

Also to cherish her loving memories are her siblings: brothers, Apostle Willie T. Lowery (Brenda) of Clover, SC, David Lowery and Daniel L. Bryant (Trinie’r) both of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Bessie L. Adams, Jean Lowery both of Clover, SC, Betty “BJ” Lowery (Jay Johnson)  and Ellen Adams both of Gastonia, NC; sisters-in-law, Rosa Mills and Sharon White of Rock Hill, SC; brothers-in-law, Henry Mills and Jerry Mills both of Rock Hill, SC and Sgt. Charles A. Mills (Judy) of Clearwater, FL; devoted nieces: Susan Smith, Arnishia Franklin, Michelle Mills, Courtney Thompson, Karen Mitchell, Carrie Jones, and Beverly Curry who were special to her heart and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
