Gregory Gaines Obituary

Mr. Gregory Lamar Gaines was born August 20th 1969 to George A. Gaines and Margaret A. McGill Gaines in Gastonia, NC. He was raised in a loving family in Clover, SC and was affectionately known as Greg, "G" and G. Baby. Greg departed this life for his eternal home on January 21, 2021.

Greg was well known and well loved, which demonstrated a life well-lived. He was educated in the Clover School District and graduated from Clover High School in 1987. He went on to earn a degree in electrical wiring from Cleveland Community College before becoming a truck driver, a profession he enjoyed for over 20 years. Greg had a dynamic, outspoken personality, but he was also charming. He charmed his way into the life of Crystal Brice and made her his wife. Together they traveled to many exciting destinations and created a lifetime of memories.

Greg's outgoing personality was only surpassed by his smile and his quick wit. It allowed those who knew him best to confide in him; seek his advice and just want to be around him. His 'GREG'arious nature made him extremely popular, especially among fellow Dallas Cowboys fans. Everyone knew Greg was the Cowboys' #1 Fan. And it goes without saying that when he hit the dance floor, everyone watched with pure joy and excitement. Greg had a way of making friends feel like family and making family feel blessed to be related to him. He constantly expressed his love for his family in word and deed. If you knew Greg, you knew how he felt about his family, especially his mama.

Greg, a member of Beyond the Walls Ministry, knew Jesus as his Savior. This was evidenced by how he helped others. Family and friends tell story after story of how he impacted their lives. The way he made people feel is his legacy and our treasured memories forever. Greg will be greatly missed by the many family and friends who cannot imagine life without him.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Gaines of Clover, SC; his wife, Crystal Gaines of Gastonia, NC; his children: Tyisha Gaines of Clover, SC, Nikea Gaines of Columbia, SC, Kajessical Gaines of Savannah, GA, Quintin Smith, Treavonte Edwards and a bonus daughter, Whitney Collins, all of Gastonia, NC; his siblings: Sandra Gaines Whetstone (Chauon) of Atlanta, GA, Erric Robbins (Tasha) of Kings Mountain, NC, Brett Gaines (Brooke) of Fort Mill, SC, and An-Twan Gaines (Lauryn) of Mt. Holly, NC; grandchildren he adored: Kayden Adams and Alaina Sherer both of Clover, SC, and Amir Mattis of Columbia, SC; as well as a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
