Brother Fred Anthony Anderson, Jr. was born February 3, 1955 in Columbus, OH to Marva Lovelace Anderson Faulkner and Fred Anderson, Sr.
He was educated in the East Orange, NJ Public School System and later served his country proudly as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1976. He was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2018.
He never met a stranger and was a friend and mentor to many. Fred, affectionately known as "Rusty," was best known for his passion for basketball. He was a flashy player and a trash-talker with his magical ball handling and dribbling skills--like the Harlem Globetrotters! He continued his great love for the game until COVID struck, earning a new name from the young men he played with as "Old School."
He also had a great love for music, often making CD's and tapes by "Mellow Madness." Every tape had the Force MD's Tears. He was always a sharp dresser: GQ Smooth, a lover of watches, sneaker, and bow ties. He found fulfillment and purpose in the mentorship of young people.
Fred departed this life on February 2, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Ernest; father, Fred Sr.; and Gwendolyn Anderson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving, devoted wife, Linda Anderson; his children: Yolanda Price and son-in-law, John, Dyshaun Anderson (Rasheeda), Idris Patterson, Akeem Anderson, Adroeya Anderson, Elizabeth Thomas and Brandiez Jerido; sister, Damita Asante; sisters-in-law, Pamela Tinsley (Raymond) and Renee Davis; brother-in-law, Terrance Jenkins (Frances); his mother, Marva Anderson Faulkner; step-mother, Lorraine Anderson; mother-in-law, Evelyn Jenkins; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; special cherished friends: Kevin Boggs, Steve Dixon, Cuffy, Jesse, Guy Whitlock, and Armond Brown; honorary brother, Will Levels; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
