Mr. Frank Thomason, 82, of 905 Generation Lane, Clover, SC departed this earthly life Friday, May 24, 2019 at home. Born September 5, 1936 in York County, SC, he was a son of the late John Matthew Thomason, Sr. and Cora Lee Robbins Thomason.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, SC with Rev. Thelma Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 prior to the service.
Mr. Frank, affectionately called “Big Daddy”, attended Timber School in York County. He was employed by Bowling Green Spinning Co. in Bowling Green, SC and Parkdale Textiles as a fork lift driver. He later worked for the Clover School District, where he served many years until he retired.
Mr. Frank joined Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Bowling Green, SC at an early age. He later joined Liberty Hill A.M.E. Zion Church in Lake Wylie, SC where he served on the Hymn Choir, Men’s Choir, Men of Zion Choir, Liberty Hill Usher & Conference Usher, Trustee Board Member, Church Aide Society, Men’s Club and performed church yard maintenance.
Mr. Frank was well known for his high fashion and was always a well-dressed gentleman when he attended church services, his beloved Men’s Choir anniversaries and singing engagements. And he was especially dapper when he stepped out for special occasions. We will miss him strutting in the finest of suits and sharpest of shoes and hats to top it off.
Mr. Frank was the loving husband of the late Reverend Carrie Elizabeth Carothers Thomason for 61 years.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Frank is preceded in by his two brothers, John Matthew Thomason and James A. Thomason and his two sisters, Sallie B. Jamison and Lizzie M. Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His only child, James Frank Thomason and daughter-in-law, Valorie Sadler Thomason, of Gastonia, NC; Grandchildren: Corrine Sadler, Jacey Sadler, Zaden Davis and Scotlen Baxter of Gastonia, NC; one brother, Robert Lewis Thomason (Emma) of Clover, SC; three sisters: Alice Thomas (James), Pennina Thomason and Mary Ann Jackson (Harvey) of Gastonia, NC; Sisters-in-law: Mary Ola Thomason, Clara Porter and Elizabeth Carothers of Gastonia; Willie Carothers and Francis Carothers of Clover, SC and Margaret Thomason of Georgia; one brother-in-law, Leo Porter of Gastonia, NC and a host of family and friends.
