Frances Woods

Mrs. Frances Cornwell Woods, 98, of 101 Autumn Place, York, entered into her heavenly home on Monday, April 3, 2023 at her residence.  Born June 22, 1924 in Sharon, SC, she was a daughter of the late Willie T and Willie Lee Robinson Cornwell.

Frances was a faithful member of St. Luke #1 Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a Mother of the Church, and also a former member of the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee, Missionary Society, and was passionate about the Hymn Choir, where she sang.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Woods, Sr.; two sons, Gilbert Woods, Jr. and David Woods; and a son-in-law, Rev. Kevin M. Burris, Sr.

Frances leaves to cherish great memories of her life three daughters, Sadie Brice (Calvin), Annie Burris, and Nell Pressley (Elaizer) all of Rock Hill, SC; six sons, Jerry Woods, Kelly Woods and Dr. Charles Woods (Wanda) all of Gastonia, NC, Jeffery Woods of Gaffney, SC, Tim Woods and Larry Woods (Kimberly) both of Rock Hill, SC; a brother, James Cornwell (Flora) of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Sarah Good and Mary Kirkpatrick both of Chester, SC; a daughter-in-law, Marcella Woods of Rock Hill, SC; twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, April 10, 2023 at St. Luke #1 Baptist Church with Rev. Chico Gilmore officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, prior to the service.  **The funeral service will be livestreamed from https://www.facebook.com/WrightFH1914 **
