Mrs. Elizabeth Garvin Curry, 88, of 1170 Cardinal Point, Rock Hill, South Carolina transitioned from this life on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. She was born May 22, 1933 in York County, to the late Anderson and Mary Crome Garvin. She was raised by her aunt, Geneva Crome.
Educated in York County Public schools, she worked for many years as a nurse’s assistant at Divine Savior Hospital in York. She was a member of White Hill AME Zion Church in York, where she spent many faithful years working on the Missionary Committee and Usher Board. Elizabeth was also a past member of White Hill Order of the Eastern Star #350.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Nathaniel Curry; a brother, Clenzo Crome; two daughters, Betty Mitchell and Mamie Garvin; and two granddaughters, Tonelle Garvin and Chiquita McDowell.
She leaves to rejoice in her memory, two sons, Walter Garvin and John Barnette, both of York; a daughter, Annis McDowell of York, SC; grandchildren: Orien Adams, Nikki Buie, Nioka Stuard, Aterra Garvin, Shanice Garvin, Kahbron Garvin, and Desiree Garvin; great-grandchildren: Trevor Garvin, De'Shai Stuard, De'Jhoria Smith, Anthony Guest, Tavarus Garvin, Jaiquavious Garvin, Kabrea Garvin, and Devin Adams; great great-grandchildren: Emiyah, ZaKhiria, NiYanna & Ja'Cayla; and as well as a loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Wright Funeral Home with Minister Paris D. White officiating. Burial will follow at Uniondale Cemetery in York, SC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
