Mr. Dennis H. Wells, 72, transitioned from this earthly life to his Heavenly home on Monday, November 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 18, 1948 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Rev. Elder Zebbie and Mabel (Harris) Wells.
Dennis was a 1966 Graduate of Jefferson High School in York, SC. He then attended Livingstone College, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Biology and Business. After graduation, he worked for over 25 years as the Human Resources manager at Duke Energy.
A hard-working man, he also worked as a substitute teacher for the York School District after retiring, and served on the School Board for a number of years. He was also the Chairman of the York Housing Authority, and a member of the York Optimist Club.
Dennis was a dedicated and faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where he served for many years as the Choir Director, member of the Trustee Board, Lay Leader, and the United Methodist Men. He was also a longtime member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Most importantly, Dennis was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William “Billy” Crawford.
Left to cherish loving memories are his wife of 53 years, Mamie (Crawford) Wells of the home; three children, Courtenay Logan (Darren) of Simpsonville, SC, Dennis Wells, II (Pamela) of Pensacola, FL, and Natasha Miller (Edwin) of Rock Hill, SC; three grandchildren: Sydney Pierce (Jared), Darren Scott Logan, Jr, and Sean Miller; two god-daughters, Neika McDowell (Kevin) and Jeanine Freeman (Rodney); a brother, Rev. Stanley Wells (Diane); two sisters, Patricia Tolbert and Brenda Chisholm; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.
