Ms. Clara G. Phillips departed this life on Sunday, April 27, 2025 in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was born August 7, 1953 in Gaston County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Robert L. Phillips and Clara Brown Phillips.
Clara attended Roosevelt School in York County. She accepted Christ at an early age during her youth while at Clover AME Zion Church. She later continued her journey with Christ at Jubilee Holiness Church in Greensboro, where she was a member for over 15 years.
Clara worked for many years for different mills and factories in the area on their janitorial staff. She loved listening to gospel music and reading her Bible in her spare time. She was a woman of quiet strength, with a deep appreciation for organization, and she will be truly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death is her brother, William Phillips.
Surviving to cherish loving memories of Clara are three children: James Jordan (wife, Kimberly) of Clover, SC, Evelyn Jordan and Warren Jordan; two grandchildren, Chantel Jordan and Shavon Jordan; three sisters, Darlene Phillips, Sandra Phillips, and Dorothea Phillips; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to Minister Betty White, Casandra, Moneake Phillips, and all the staff with Amedisys Hospice, Moses Cone Hospital and all the doctors and nurses who assisted Clara during her time of need.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, May 5, 2025 at Wright Funeral Home, with Rev. Daniel Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Uniondale Cemetery in York, SC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
