Mr. Charles Eugene "Butch" Meek, 75, of York, SC passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. Born July 10, 1948 in York, he was a son of the late Fred Davis Meek and Epsice (Hill) Meek.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the funeral home, with visitation to take place from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, SC.
Butch liked antique cars and liked working on old vehicles. He was a car dealer and dealt in scrap metal and other similar things. He loved black and white movies and westerns (at MAX volume, much to others dismay...) He liked old country music and gospel music. He was known to talk to himself a lot and when confronted, would say, "At least I'm talking to someone who's got some sense!"
Butch loved his grandkids and they loved him. He was quick to play a practical joke and make people laugh and was a supplier of Oreos and other snacks for the kids.
Preceding him in death are his mother, Epsice Lowe Hill Meek and Father, Fred Davis Meek; as well as his brothers, George Meeks, Lawson Meeks, and Donald "Bo" Meeks, and sisters, Bonnie Meeks and Mannie Messer.
Surviving to cherish loving memories are his wife, Ruth Marlene Meek; his children: Epsice "Gal" Knight, Billy Meeks, Charlie Childers, Michael Ramsey, Crystal Ramsey Miller, Jeffrey Ramsey, and Travis Ramsey; as well as 12 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids.
