Celestine Louise Tobe “Bootsey” Wiley, age 79, of 331 Market Hall Place, Rock Hill, SC passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte, NC. Celestine was born on March 20, 1943 to the late Floyd and Leviticus Tobe.
She was raised in New York and educated in the New York school system. On August 10, 1963, she married the late Harry Wiley, Jr., and they had two children: Kristin, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2022, and Kelby. In 1972, she began work as a Provider Mother at John F. Kennedy Daycare Center in Brooklyn. From 1984 until she retired, she worked for Midtown Neon Sign Corporation as an Administrative Assistant.
Celestine was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, where she served on the choir. She was a generous giver, helping people in various parts of their lives. As someone who loved and cared for people, she loved to communicate by phone to family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her memory: son, Kelby (Dana); grandson, Khaydorn (Shandrel); granddaughter, Rashieqwa Stevenson (Michael); and bonus grandson, Dominic Boyd; one great-grandson, Cameron Stevenson and four great-granddaughters, Aniyah and Mariah Stevenson, and Rain and Summer Rose Wiley; four brothers-in-law, Elwood Wright (Flora), Terry Wiley (Gayle), Ryne Wiley and Edmund Wiley; a godson and goddaughter, Sultan Mohammed and Zadell Norton; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Wright Funeral Home and will be livestreamed from https://www.facebook.com/WrightFH1914. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.
