Coping with Grief

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Great Joy Baptist Church in McConnells, SC. Burial will follow in Crawford Memorial Gardens (church cemetery). The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Saturday, April 25th at the funeral home.
Mr. Billy R. Smith was born November 21, 1961, the son of late Willie Curry Smith and Bill R. “Hook” Smith. He departed this life Friday, April 17, 2026 at Piedmont Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was a former Machine Fixer at Cannon Mills for several years. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, cut grass or do any yard work, handyman work, and he even loved to DJ from time to time. Billy loved spending time with his family and he was definitely the life of the party!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Smith.
Surviving to cherish fond memories are his wife, Lucille C. Smith of Chester, SC; three sons, Antionio Byers of Charlotte, NC, Mick Lowry (Tiffany) of Fort Mill, SC, and Kiriakis Smith (Mayumi) of Rock Hill, SC; two daughters, Brennique Smith of Rock Hill, SC and Tatyana Smith of York, SC; two sisters, Susan Smith of York, SC and Gaylon Smith (Ernest) of Rock Hill, SC; one brother, Darby McDowell of Alabama; two nieces, Shaun Smith of Clover, SC and Kimberly Smith of Rock Hill, SC; three nephews, Kwesi Smith of Rock Hill, SC, Jermell Anthony of York, SC, and Chavis Cherry of Rock Hill, SC; Six grandchildren: Dakarai Neely, Noah Smith, Mason Lowry, Jace Lowry, Monroe Lowry, and Zoë Lowry; two special aunts and caregivers, Doretha Littlejohn and Patricia Curry, both of York, SC; a sister-in-law and caregiver, Sarah Carter of York, SC; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to ALL his family and friends! Billy will be dearly missed.
