Arthur "Scooter" Moore, Jr.

May 22, 2022

“Friend to Many”

Mr. Arthur (Scooter) Moore Jr, 77 of 3295 Shillinglaw Rd, Sharon, SC departed this Earthly life Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Atrium Health-Pineville in Charlotte, NC.  Born April 28, 1945, in York County, he was the son of the late Arthur Moore and Mildred McCleod Sims.

Arthur attended Jefferson High School in York, SC and then began working as a butcher at G&W Meat Packing located in Hickory Grove, SC.  After nineteen years at G&W, he went to work for York County Animal Control as an animal control officer in York, SC where he worked for many years until retirement.  Even after retirement, he found ways to stay busy; whether you saw him mowing someone’s lawn or offering somebody some of his awesome homemade sausage or at the livestock sale helping someone purchase some cows.

Arthur was a person that knew no strangers and was a great hunter and fisherman and he didn’t mind letting you know how good he was.  He was a huge Nascar Racing fan and loved America’s team, the Cowboys.  He enjoyed making people laugh and he was the epitome of the phrase “we outside” because the only time he was inside was when it was time to nap or get ready for bed.  He believed in working hard and helping people that helped themselves. His legacy will continue and for those that got a chance to know him, you will never forget “Scooter Mo”.

Preceding him in death was his sister, Mary Frances

Left to cherish fond memories are his wife: Debbie Moore; his children: Tony Logan (Linda), Lashon Adams, Yolanda Barnett (Robbie), Maurio Thomasson, Kurtis Moore (Imin), Kristopher Moore (Lavonne); his sisters: Louise Joseph and Doretha Anderson (James); and a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 28th at the funeral home chapel.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00 pm, prior to the service.

Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park - Hollis Lakes in Rock Hill, SC.
