Paul Davis, Jr.

Mr. Paul Davis, Jr. (June), 79, formerly of Hickory Grove, South Carolina departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, South Carolina.  Born April 1, 1944 in York County, he was a son of the late Paul, Sr. and Marie Logan Davis.

He was educated in York County Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963. Following graduation, he spent most of his career in law enforcement, serving as a correctional officer for the Moss Justice Center and the former Catawba Pre-Release Center in Rock Hill.

He was a longtime member of the John’s Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Hickory Grove, led by his sister, Dr. Etheleen Lawson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Dean Davis; his sister, Latoya Davis; and his former wife, Daisy Parker Davis.

Surviving to cherish fond memories are his wife, Cholia Davis; his children: Tuesday Gill of Rock Hill, SC, Zachary Davis (Tammy) of York, SC, Valessa Davis of Rock Hill, SC, and Josh Davis (Joy Ruggerio) of Tega Cay, SC; his step-children: Toreeka Myers (Roshan), Patrina Frederick and Julius Frederick; his siblings: Dr. Etheleen Lawson, Lizzie Goudelock, Jerome Davis, Chris Davis and Brian Davis; his grandchildren: April Neal, De’Angelo Choates, Zackeaous Hardy-Davis, Bryson Davis, Darius Patton, Jrake Davis, and Jace Davis; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, Ameer Blow, Quayshon Myers, Ahlea Myers and Tyra Myers; two special friends, J.W. Howell and James Williams, Jr.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, March 18, 2024 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC with Elder Otha L. Smith presiding, and Revs. Dr. E.D. Lawson and Patricia Reid assisting. Burial will immediately follow the service. 

Mr. Davis may be viewed from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday, March 17th at the funeral home.
